Best of Classical Music: Mozart

Best of Classical Music: Mozart
Mozart was one of the best composers of the classical period. Mozart was highly intelligent from the time he was a small child. Mozart began working with music with the help of his father. His older sister was also following her father's foot steps because she was involved in classical music also. Mozart was more than likely going to be a part of classical music as well. He continued the family tradition and became one of the best of the Classical Era.

Mozart was known for his music because each piece of music was long. When Mozart started out with classical music people doubted him. Everyone was used to hearing about Bach and other classical composers but not Mozart. All of the people thought that Mozart's music would be very boring because it he wrote such long pieces. When Mozart performed all of the congregation was stunned. They were proved wrong because it was not long and boring but interesting. Mozart became the best classical musician of his time.

Mozart's music is very soothing. Some of his music is fast and some is slow. Some pieces by Mozart would bring sadness, some would bring happiness, and some brought anger. Mozart did not just express one emotion at all times. He would switch up. He was the best classical musician so he knew how to have a variety of emotions an still be the best of his time.

Compare & Contrast

Compare
Classical music and modern music have a few similarities. In all music you have many different kinds of instruments. Listening to classical music you may notice more instruments playing. In modern music you notice the instruments but pay attention to the lyrics of the songs. In an article, Modern vs. Classical Music, "Through the delight of listening to a brand new track on a compact disc with a big name artist has a similar emotional feel for modern day people, as it would have felt for people listening to a live symphony during the Classical Era." By saying this it means that classical music was similar to how life was during the classical time period. Just as modern music shows emotion or describes some peoples everyday life. Classical music was just as popular to people during the Classical Era as modern music is popular during modern day times.

Contrast
The main difference of classical music and modern music is the time period. Emotion that classical music shows is totally different from modern music. Emotion comes all from the way the instruments play in classical music. In modern day music almost all of the emotion of a song comes from the lyrics. Classical music is not as simple as modern music. A classical piece may mean one thing but a person may take it a whole other way because of the way the instruments are played. In modern music the lyrics of the song basically tell you what the song means or the main purpose of the song. Classical music and modern music have many differences but they also have many similarities.

Mozart

I have focused on the effects of classical music, the importance, and the main use of classical music. I am now going to focus on a well-known classical musician.

Wolfgang Mozart was born in Austria in the year 1756 and died in 1791 while living in Vienna. Mozart was a prodigy. He began dealing with music at the age of three and performed his first piece by the age of 5. Mozart was following his father's foot steps.

Mozart's father was a violinist and played classical music. Mozart's sister was also following her father's foot steps and was involved in music. Aaron Green mentions in his article, The Genius of Mozart, "Mozart's father began touring Mozart and his sister not just locally, but also internationally!" With the help of his father and older sister Mozart became famous for what he is known for today.

Mozart wrote nine symphonies. Mozart's pieces were known for their length. He wrote his music longer than most musicians of his time. After his ninth symphony, he began his Requiem. A requiem is a piece wrote for death. When Mozart began writing his requiem he was becoming ill.

Mozart passed away in 1791. Mozart is still a well-known classical musician and has great music. If you have never listen to any of his pieces I would encourage you to do so.

How To Make Classical Music Useful

Many people think that classical music makes people smarter. Classical music doesn't make you exactly smarter but it can clear your mind to do better at a task.

Parents will play classical music to their small children because they think that it will make their child intelligent. The child will not be smarter but if they were listening to a classical piece while putting together a puzzle they would put it together faster. Classical music clears your mind and when your mind is clear you work better at tasks.

Parents will put their baby through an experiment that is called the Mozart Effect. This experiment exposes the baby to classical music to see if the child's IQ will increase in the near future. The study of the Mozart Effect was studied in 1933 on a group of college students. After the students listened to the classical pieces they took a test and their test scores were improved. The Mozart Effect was proven to be successful. This information comes from Emiliana R. Simon-Thomas.

When you are writing a major essay or doing a big project that you want to do excellent work on, classical music can be helpful. The rhythm of some pieces of classical music is fast playing. When you listen to the music you work at a faster paste and make less mistakes. This is how you can make classical music useful.

The Importance of Classical Music

There is an important reason for every piece of music. Every song has a meaning behind it. It does not have to have words in the song to explain the meaning either. People may think that classical music is not important and doesn't have meaning to it because there are no lyrics to the songs.

Some people say that classical music makes you smarter. Classical music helps calm you and clear your mind. When studying classical music can be a helpful tool. Classical music clears your mind this makes it better to concentrate. If you are fully focused on what you are studying you will learn more and your memory will expand. This is a way that classical music can make you smarter.

Scientist have been asked if classical music can make a child smarter and expand their intelligence. There is answers to this. Some people think that classical music does expand a child's intelligence.  Classical music doesn't teach a child to be violent, use profanity, or worry about knowing all the words to a song. Classical music is peaceful. There is no understanding to it. According to Tina Serota, in her article, The Classical Music Education of a Generation.

"Classical music not only nurtures our soul but grows our mind in ways that have been substantiated by myriad of studies over recent years. Exposing the very young to classical music has been documented to help develop language skills, reasoning, and spatial intelligence."
Listening to a classical piece does not get old as quick as modern day music does. Once you learn the words to one song and you know them by memory without messing up it gets old. Classical music does not boring or old  because it is not made of words that you are rushing to memorize.

The Real Meaning of Classical Music

Many people think that there is no purpose in classical music being used. People refer to it as boring, elevator music. However, when you are listening to some sort of classical music you are calm and more focused.

Classical music is similar to all other music because all music has instruments and instrumental parts. All pieces of music have a purpose. Classical music has a  purpose to every piece, but it does not express it by using words. According to a website article, “Does Music Help You Study?, Music with no lyrics allows students to study and concentrate without being distracted by words.” Modern day music such as hip hop, country, rap, rock/metal, and gospel use words to explain the purpose of the song.

Classical music shows emotion through the instruments. When people think that classical music is just elevator music they are wrong. A classical piece of music has a meaning behind it just as a country song would.

When you listen to different pieces of classical music you feel different emotions. Some pieces of classical music are slow and depressing. When classical musicians wrote these pieces they were most likely going through hard and depressing times. During the classical period people had more depressing times than happy. Other pieces are played fast. These pieces are probably used for races or fights from the period it was wrote.

Classical music is used in many older cartoon shows or older movies. When cartoons first became popular there was no talking in them. If the characters were running around there was fast playing classical music in them. This was the same for TV shows and movies.

Classical Music Helps
Copyright, available at,
http://www.discoverahobby.com/MPj04385490000[1].jpg
Introduction
I chose this topic because people think that Classical music is boring. Many people do not listen to Classical music because it is so old.

Classical music is made of melodies and rhythms. The majority of the population wants music that has lyrics. Modern day music is not made of just rhythms and melodies anymore.

People listen to music while reading, studying, and doing homework for classes. When you listen to music with words it is harder to concentrate. You focus on the words in the music more than you do with the work you are doing or information you are studying.

Meaning
Classical music makes the human body feel calm. The rhythm of Classical music causes the brain to release serotonin. Serotonin is released in the brain when a person sees something that is appealing to them. Serotonin makes the human body feel mellow. When the body is calm, it makes it easier for the brain to process things.

Gained
By reading this I hope it will encourage people to listen to Classical music. You will learn that classical music is helpful when studying for a test and doing homework. When you want to relax it is great for that. I encourage you to listen to Classical music when you are trying to concentrate on something because it will help you remember things and stay focused.

This post is not telling the reader to make Classical music your main choice of music. This is to help you make a better choice of music while studying. This post also does not apply to everyone. This will help out with college students, high school students, and students that listen to music while doing homework or studying.
